The Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, have the opportunity to secure a second spot in Group H of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers if they defeat Equatorial Guinea this afternoon at Estadio de Malabo.
The chance comes after a goalless draw between Tunisia and Namibia on Sunday.
As it stands, Tunisia leads the group with 10 points, followed by Namibia with eight points.
A win for Malawi would put them ahead of Namibia, as they currently have six points.
Liberia is in fourth place with four points, while Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome & Principe are in fifth and sixth place with no points.
In pre-match interviews, Flames’ Coach, Patrick Mabedi, acknowledged that the upcoming match will be a challenge compared to their previous game against Sao Tome, which they won 3-1 at the Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
