First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera has asked well-wishers to support the country’s health sector to increase access to quality health services in the country.
Madam Chakwera made the remarks at Kabudula Community Hospital when she donated medical equipment at the hospital courtesy of an organisation called Malawi Goodlife.
The First Lady said the government is committed to Improving the health status of all citizens of Malawi and this is possible if health facilities are properly resourced and equipped.
Madam Chakwera applauded Malawi Goodlife for responding to the need and addressing the deficit adding government needs partners to effectively provide social needs for its people.
Deputy Minister of Health, Halima Daudi, also applauded the First Lady for her support.
Daudi said the hospital is overwhelmed and the equipment will alleviate the challenges the hospital is facing and meet the growing demand for services.
Equipment donated included 10 hospital beds, two for the high-dependency unit, ventilators, air purifiers, wheelchairs, digital hypertension and diabetes monitors, and other hospital supplies.
Kabudula Health Centre was established in 1962 and currently serves a catchment area of 56 thousand people.
