The disability movement in Malawi is gaining momentum, with various organisations successfully advocating for policy changes and inclusivity of people with disabilities in all social and economic programmes.
This is according to the Programmes Officer for Disability Rights Fund (DRF), Chrissie Zimba, who was speaking in Lilongwe at the DRF Grantees convening programme.
She adds that since the fund was established in 2019, the movement is making strides as a robust legal framework has been put in place, influencing change of some government policies for the betterment of the sector.
The programme is week-long and it discusses experiences and good practices on disability advocacy and provides a platform for continued engagement with government agencies.
