Defence Ministry and SRWB sign water rehabilitation contract

Ministry of Defence has signed a K900 million contract with the Southern Region Water Board (SRWB) to rehabilitate and upgrade the water systems at the maritime unit in Monkey Bay, Mangochi.

Malawi Maritime Force Deputy Commander, Brigadier General Lawrence Okomatani Mambo, says the old system is riddled with leaks and has been a major financial drain and that the rehabilitation and reticulation will solve some of these issues and reduce water bills for the men in uniform.

SRWB Chairperson, Brown Mpinganjira, emphasized that the project is significant not only due to its contractual benefits but because it also underscores their shared commitment to delivering safe, clean, and reliable water services to communities.
