Controlling Officers urged to be exemplary

Deputy Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet, Janet Banda, has called on Controlling Officers in various public institutions to set a strong example in the fight against corruption.

Banda said the officers need vigilance to support Institutional Integrity Committees as a means to up the fight against the vice, which erodes people’s trust.

Banda made the remarks at the 2024 Controlling Officers Forum on Anti-Corruption in Lilongwe — a forum that seeks to find solutions to the challenges hampering efforts to combat corruption.

Chairperson for the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs, Peter Dimba, reminded participants that the fight against corruption is not only the responsibility of the Anti Corruption Bureau but requires collective action.

“Fighting the vice is not an easy one, it demands determination and integrity,” said Dimba.
