Police in Chitipa have arrested John Gondwe (60) after killing a pedestrian, Kestone Sibale (51), in a road accident at Maka Trading Centre in the district on Monday.
Spokesperson for Chitipa Police, Gladwell Simwaka, said Gondwe was driving a Toyota Noah Saloon and lost control of his vehicle due to speeding and hit Sibale who was walking on the side of the road.
He sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Chitipa District Hospital.
