Chimwendo urges Contractors to construct durable structures

Dowa East Member of Parliament Richard Chimwendo Banda who is also Minister of Local Government Unity and Culture, has urged contractors building ICT laboratories to build durable structures.

He said this during the groundbreaking ceremony for an ICT laboratory at Mvera Community Day Secondary School where he encouraged students to work hard and appreciated the government’s efforts to bridge the digital gap.

The lab is part of the Connect a School smart laboratory project, aimed at improving education quality through internet access. The project, funded by the Universal Service Fund, will provide 20 computers and free internet for three years to 75 schools across the country.

A representative of MACRA Mary Botomani said the project signifies the country’s leadership commitment in achieving the Malawi 2063 vision which aims at bridging the digital gap among learners and communities.

Head teacher for Mvera CDSS Redson Mkandawire said the facility will go a long way in improving the quality of education at the institution.
