Minister of Finance Simplex Chithyola Banda has urged legislators to provide the much-needed scrutiny and oversight roles on the budget statement he is presenting in the chamber and to provide checks and balances during its implementation.
Banda says the budget reflects the views of the people of Malawi and for their aspirations to be realised the onus is on the legislators to support the budget through scrutiny and constructive contributions.
The Finance Minister lauded the legislators for their oversight role with the previous budget and urged them to do the same with the budget he is presenting.
“If we all do the needful we will ensure that the resources in the budget are put to good use,” said Banda.
