President Dr Lazarus Chakwera on Monday held an audience with traditional leaders from the Northern Region where high on the agenda were development works in the region.
The meeting took place at Mzuzu State Lodge.
Addressing the media after the event, which was held in Camera, Minister of Local Government, Richard Chimwendo Banda, said the president’s meeting with the chiefs is a clear indication of his servant leadership.
“The President had a very fruitful meeting with the chiefs. He held similar meetings with chiefs in the Southern and Central regions and now here in the north. The chiefs were very free to discuss development works in the region,” said Chimwendo Banda.
Chakwera had invited all chiefs from the Northern Region to hear their views and ideas pertaining the development of the region.
Traditional Authority Nyaluwanga of Nkhata Bay applauded the President for doubling their monthly honoralia.
