Father Ioan Sauca, Acting General Secretary of the Organisation said the WCC called on African leaders to find a lasting solution to insurgency in Northern Mozambique where people are suffering and displaced.
Father Sauca said events in Cabo Delgado has the potential to affect development gains.
For his part, Dr Chakwera emphasized the need for peace in the development of any country.
He commended WCC for providing a platform where all churches come together to serve mankind in many ways.
The WCC is currently involved in peacebuilding initiatives in conflict zones such as Israel – Palestine, Russia-Ukraine and the Democratic Republic of Congo among others.
