President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera are attending the Umthetho Cultural Festival at Hora Mountain, hosted by the Ngoni people of Mzimba.
The Umthetho Cultural Festival is an annual event organised by the Mzimba Heritage Association (MZIHA) under the authority of the M’mbelwa Chiefs Council, chaired by His Majesty Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V.
The festival celebrates the traditional heritage of the Ngoni of Mzimba (Zwangendaba Ngoni) and features traditional dances, with Ingoma being the highlight.
This year’s event is unique as it coincides with the 10th anniversary of Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V’s reign.
Dr Chakwera was welcomed by senior government officials. The event has also attracted delegates from other countries, including South Africa and Tanzania.
This year’s event will be celebrated under the theme “Uniting Against Climate Change in the Decade of His Majesty Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V.”
