Bridge construction excites constituents in Chitipa

Chitipa East constituents have applauded the government for constructing the much-awaited Ndendo bridge using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) amounting to K19 million.

Memory Mlenga from Kasitu Village in Senior Chief Mwenemisuku thanked the area’s Member of Parliament, Kezzie Msukwa, Kapoka Ward Councillor, Alice Chanza and Chitipa District Council for constructing Ndendo bridge, which she said was causing havoc during rainy season.

Mlenga further said farmers from the other side had difficulties in going to farms and transporting their farm produce.

A learner at Kasitu Primary School, Petros Msukwa, thanked the district council for considering the people of the area by constructing a concrete bridge.

Chanza said that heavy rains had been washing away the previous bailey bridge.

She said she was excited that they have completed construction of the bridge using cement at a cost of K19 million and community members contributed 25 percent, which comprised sand and stones.

“We are happy now that we have an accessible road with a concrete bridge,” she said.
