We are a people who love and respect one another — Chakwera

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera, who has arrived in Mangochi, has emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and harmony among Malawians.

Addressing thousands of people gathered at Mangochi Boma on Tuesday evening, President Chakwera expressed his excitement to interact with the community ahead of his tour of duty in the Eastern Region where he will inspect development projects.

“I am thrilled to see so many of you here, and I am eager to engage with you on various development projects,” Chakwera said.

He also expressed gratitude to religious leaders for their role in bringing people together.

“We are a people who love and respect one another. Let us continue to show appreciation for each other and unite in our diversity,” the Malawi leader said.

Earlier, Deputy Secretary General for the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP), Gerald Kazembe hailed President Chakwera for the development projects underway across the country.

“Here in Mangochi, we have seen the completion of several projects, including the Mangochi-Cape Maclear road and the Nkhudzi-bay water supply project.”

Kazembe also mentioned the planned rehabilitation of the Balaka-Zomba road, which has been long awaited.

Senior Chief Chowe welcomed President Chakwera’s visit to Mangochi, saying it demonstrates the President’s love and care for the people of the district.
