Police at Jenda in Mzimba are investigating the death of 70-year-old Alamu Ngulube. Ngulube, a watchman at Hesham Wholesale in the district was allegedly murdered.
According to Macfarlen Mseteka, Jenda Police Public Relations officer, Ngulube was fatally injured during the early hours of Saturday after being struck on the head with a concrete block by robbers and died on the spot.
The culprits fled with their loot from the shop, which incuded five bricks of cigarettes, five packets of (Yummy) biscuits and K20,000 cash, all items valued at K87,250.
A postmortem conducted at Embangweni Mission Hospital revealed that Ngulube diied from severe head injuries sustained in the assault.
