POLICE CONFISCATE 85 CHARCOAL BAGS, ARREST 2

Police in Chileka have seized 85 bags of charcoal which were being carried without licence in a now impounded lorry, registration number BL 1623.

Public Relations Officer at Chileka Police, Jonathan Phillipo, said the driver is at large but suspected owners of the charcoal have since been apprehended.

Philipo identified the men as Roben Samuel and Mike Bwanali, who were intercepted at Kameza Roundabout near Mtengo Umodzi Health Centre during a night patrol.

Investigations are underway to trace and arrest the driver while the other suspects will appear in court soon to answer the charge of being found in possession of forest produce without a permit.

Samuel hails from Chasese Village, Traditional Authority Mulauli in Neno District while Bwanali is from Mchotseni Village, Traditional Authority Kanduku in Mwanza District.
