Nsundwe Stadium construction to begin in September

Lilongwe District Council says the construction of a 10,000-seat Nsundwe Stadium in Traditional Authority Kalolo, Lilongwe, is set to commence next month after the council awarded the contract to Bonongwe Building Construction.

Sydney Chiphaka, Director of Public Works for Lilongwe District Council said the contractor has been given 12 months to complete construction works.

“I am very happy that finally we have identified and handed over the contractor. As you may be aware we started working on this project almost a year and some months ago, so to reach this far, it’s a very big achievement,” he said.

Chiphaka urged the contractor to adhere to the established standards and work closely with the community to ensure the smooth execution of the project.

Malisen Mtondela, Manager of Bonongwe Building Construction, assured the public that the company would adhere to the project standards and complete the work on schedule.

“This is not our first project of this nature, we are also constructing another stadium in Mwanza but I can assure you. We will do a good work here,” Mtondela said.
