MBTS surpasses blood collection projections

Malawi Blood Transfusion Services (MBTS) says it has collected 122,000 units of blood against the projected 120,000 units.

Dr Bridon M’baya, MBTS acting Chief Executive Officer, says the increase in blood collection by 2000 units is a sign that many people in the country are now understanding the importance of donating blood.

M’baya was speaking in Blantyre when receiving a K7 million donation from Old Mutual Malawi Limited intended for tent purchase.

Old Mutual Marketing and Communications Manager, Eric Mataka, expressed hope that the donation will make a meaningful difference.
