Journalists challenged to maintain professionalism

The Association of Catholic Journalists – Southern Chapter has urged journalists to maintain professionalism in the course of their duties.

The call was made in Blantyre during the association’s annual general meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Communication Coordinator in the Archdiocese of Blantyre, Father Frank Mwinganyama, noted that as communicators, journalists have a critical role to stand for the truth and guard against the spread of fake news.

Meanwhile, the Association of Catholic Journalists – Southern Chapter has elected the following individuals into its executive committee:

Chairperson: Lucky Mkandawire of Nation Publications, deputised by Secret Segula of Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC).
Secretary:Esther Nyirenda of MBC, with Precious Kumbani of WOLREC as Vice Secretary.
Treasurer: Vincent Phiri, with Simeone Shumba of MBC as his Vice.

Committee members include Emmanuel Malunga of Impulse Television, Mphatso Mnelemba of Timveni Radio, Jeff Chinawa of MBC and Charles Sitima of Radio Maria.
