Japan to help Malawi eliminate poverty

Japanese Government has reaffirmed its commitment to help Malawi’s poverty reduction drive and support its economic growth through human capital development interventions.

Japanese Ambassador to Malawi, Yoichi Oya, made the remarks in Lilongwe during a meet-and-greet event with Japanese Scholarship Alumni, which was attended by over 45 alumni.

Oya stressed the importance of education and learned skills in addressing developmental challenges in any country.

Deputy Director for Asia, Pacific and the Middle East, John Kabaghe, hailed Japan for supporting the country’s education sector.

He urged beneficiaries of Japanese scholarships to return home once they graduate to help develop Malawi.
