Govt calls for environmental education and clean-up action

The Ministry of Local Government, Unity and Culture has called for more environmental education and awareness initiatives, which can inspire communities to keep a clean environment.

In a statement signed by the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Unity and Culture, Esme Kainja,.the ministry says people should integrate environmental education into clean-up activities to lay the groundwork for sustainable practices that benefit future generations.

In 2020, President Dr Lazarus Chakwera launched the monthly clean-up activities where Malawians are encouraged to clean their localities every second Friday of the month from 2 pm to 5 pm.

This month’s clean up day is scheduled for Friday, 12 April, 2024.
