Second Vice President, Enock Chihana has assured Malawians that the administration of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is working hard to solve various challenges the country is facing.

Chihana  who is  also President of Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) made the remarks on Sunday when he convened a meeting at Rumphi Boma to thank the people of Rumphi for voting for Professor Mutharika in the 16 September General Election.

He said although challenges are enormous, the Government has already started tackling the hardships malawians are facing.

“The Government has already secured maize which will start arriving in the country shortly. We are also working on securing fertilizers and fuel through relevant ministries. We need to deal with these first before we move to other areas,” Chihana said.

He further said that although some districts including Rumphi were not specifically mentioned in state of disaster declaration by the State President, the Government understands that hunger is prevalent in many districts in the country and that the only difference is severity.

He then assured them that Government will ensure that maize is made available in ADMARC selling points for people to access it.

Speaking of behalf of Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe, Sub Traditional Authority Mwang’onga said the Paramount Chief feels greatly honoured by the president for  appointing one of his subjects as State Second Vice President and will thank the president in person when an opportunity arises.
