Communities in Kasungu still shocked by ‘prophetic’ murders

Communities in Kasungu are still in shock over the alleged murder of four children at Chisazima Village.

A 40-year-old woman, Ireen Banda, reportedly flogged the children heavily on the head and all over their bodies, leading to their deaths.

The incident occurred after her four-year-old daughter, a self-proclaimed prophet believed to perform healing miracles, ordered her to carry out the act, allegedly to cure the deceased, who were suffering from sickle cell anaemia and Down syndrome.

Kasungu Police publicist, Joseph Kachikho, says Banda is in custody awaiting court trial.

Meanwhile, some religious and civil rights groups have condemned the development, stating that the four-year-old prophet should be under the guidance of a prophet or pastor with deep wisdom.
