The Ministry of Justice says people should not blame it for police arrests or particular court rulings.
Line Minister Titus Mvalo said this in Parliament on Tuesday as he presented a statement on the separation of powers for the three arms of government, namely the Executive, the Judiciary as well as the Legislature.
“The Ministry of Justice and its minister does not have arresting powers, so the Minister does not or cannot arrest anyone,” Mvalo said.
He also stressed that the Judiciary works independently, stressing that the ministry cannot influence court judgments.
