Wanderers win, Bullets escape MAFCO’s scare

Mighty Wanderers have secured their third victory as they defeated Karonga United through Clement Nyondo’s 13th-minute goal, marking his debut goal for the team.

This victory propelled Wanderers to second place on the TNM Super League Log Table with 12 points.

Despite Nyondo’s early substitution in the 53rd minute by Christopher Kumwembe, Wanderers maintained their momentum, ultimately securing the win and Isaac Kaliati’s top performance earned him the Man of the Match accolade.

Assistant Coach Meke Mwase acknowledged that the team needs to capitalise on scoring opportunities.

Karonga United is now in 7th place with 8 points and despite the loss, their coach Oscar Kaunda praised his team’s defensive efforts and resilience, pointing out that many of his players faced formidable opponents for the first time.

Meanwhile at Chitowe Stadium in Nkhotakota, defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets narrowly avoided defeat against MAFCO, thanks to a late equaliser from Patrick Mwaungulu in the 87th minute. MAFCO initially took the lead through Innocent Makawano’s goal in the 29th minute.

The match ended in a draw, positioning Bullets fourth with 10 points and MAFCO 15th with three points.

At Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, Civil Service United and Bangwe All Stars settled for a 1-1 draw.

Beston Jimu scored first for Bangwe in the 13th minute, with CIVO equalising in the 53rd minute through Emmanuel Saviel.

Goalie Rahman John’s crucial penalty save in the 78th minute preserved the draw for Civil as Jimu’s strike was saved.

Tomorrow, Silver Strikers will face Creck Sporting at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe while Mzuzu Hammers will take on Kamuzu Barracks, with Mighty Tigers entertaining Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos.
