TOURISM PUBLIC BEACH PROJECT LAUNCHED IN SALIMA

The Ministry of Tourism has launched the Tourism Public Beach Project in the area of Traditional Authority Maganga in Salima District.

Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukule, said the public beach is about 52 hectares from the lakeshore.

Kamtukule said the project is part of the Tourism Master Plan which was launched last year by President Dr Lazarus Chakwera.

She further said the beach will provide an opportunity for locals in terms of employment and businesses.

“By the end of December 2023, we are hoping that we will open the place, especially for camping, swimming and other basic amenities and will hand over those facilities to the district council,” said Kamtukule.

District Commissioner for Salima, James Mwenda said the public beach will add value in terms of social economic activities in the district.

Meanwhile, locals in the area of Traditional Authority Maganga have handed over the land proposed for the project to the Ministry of Tourism.
