Tanzania church urges nations to aid communities affected by disasters

The Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Central Diocese of Tanzania has called for international cooperation to support communities affected by disasters, citing the challenges Malawi faces due to Cyclone Freddy.

Reverend Paulo Matili of Arusha Town Lutheran Cathedral in Tanzania made the remarks in Mzuzu  where the church provided aid through Saint Andrews CCAP Church of the Synod of Livingstonia for Cyclone Freddy survivors.

“We know that Malawi is going through a lot of challenges like floods, cyclones and many more and as a church we decided to show our love by donating these items,” Matili said.

Reverend Chipasi Chirwa, on behalf of CCAP Synod of Livingstonia, expressed gratitude and further  said the donation will be delivered to government through the Department of Disaster and Management Affairs-DoDMA.

Member of Parliament for Mzuzu City, Bennex Mwamlima, said the donation made by the church is a true reflection of the cordial relationship that exists between Malawi and Tanzania.

The donation included clothes.
