Strengthening, Training, empowerment and Monitoring Systems Programme (STREAMS) has connected all health facilities in Rumphi District to running water by using the available water resources.
This was disclosed during an orientation meeting for some staff members working under Rumphi District Council on Wednesday.
Coordinator for the Programme in Rumphi, Flument Mkinga, said the programme works with Water Users Associations (WUWA) to connect facilities.
Mkinga said where WUWA facilities are absent, it has sunk boreholes and connected water source to facilities plumbing systems.
Executive Director for Transform, one of the project funders, Nancy Gilbert, says the programme has been a successful innovation which has brought smiles to staff and people accessing services from the facilities.
District Commissioner for Rumphi, Emmanuel Bulukutu, committed complete support from the Council.
Bulukutu then urged all his staff to continue supporting the programme even where there are no allowances even to ensure the people of Rumphi get quality services.
The programme has been running since 2021 in Rumphi.
