Minister of Labour Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba believes the time has come to orient communities on the precious materials in their areas to avoid exploitation.
Mumba made these remarks at Ngara Community Technical College in Karonga District.
The Minister said everyone has the responsibility of protecting the country’s minerals.
“The Chakwera administration is promoting the [Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining] ATM Strategy which is key in boosting our export base and boosting our economy,” he observed.
Senior Chief Mwirang’ombe of the district commended the government for collaborating with his subjects in developing the area.
“This is our community and we try hard together with the college’s management to safeguard the facility which is moulding our children to become productive citizens,” Senior Chief Mwirang’ombe said.
Ngala Community Technical Colledge was opened in 2015 and currently has an enrollment of 116 students of which 72 are males and 44 are females
