Silver Strikers maintains dominance

Silver Strikers have extended their lead at top of the TNM Super league log table as they have now have 16 Points following a 2-0 victory against rookies Creck Sporting Club at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Central Bankers broke the deadlock seconds before the half-time when Uchizi Vunga scored a screamer beyond the 18-yard box and Chimwemwe Idana made a similar strike on the 60th minute.

Ultimately, Idana was awarded the Man of the Match accolade and his coach Peter Mponda commended his players’ overall performance while on the other hand, McDonald Mtetemera, Creck’s Coach, said they lost concentration in the game hence the defeat.

Mzuzu Hammers have now moved into the second slot with 13 points after they defeated Kamuzu Barracks 1-0 at Mzuzu Stadium with an Isaac Msiska goal in the 44th minute, earning him a Man of the Match award.

Hammers’ Coach, Eliasi Chirambo, said the game was difficult but they relied on their game plan by shifting various players to play unusual positions.

Charles Kamanga, Kamuzu Barracks’ gaffer, accepted defeat, saying they will go back to the drawing board to rectify technical errors.

This means Wanderers are third with 12 points followed by Kamuzu Barracks on 4th with 11 points, pushing down FCB Nyasa Big Bullets to 5th with 10 points while Moyale to sixth with 9 points with Karonga on seventh whilst accumulating 8 points.

In Blantyre, Mighty Tigers failed to move further up the table as they were held 1-1 against Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos.

The result made the teams to be separated by a point as Tigers are eighth with 8 points and Dedza ranking ninth with 9 points.

Tigers were first to score on 68th minute, thanks to Kelvin Banda, but as referee Chicco Gift was about to blow the final whistle, Tigers’ midfielder Martin Nsewa conceded an own-goal, gifting it to Dedza.

But, Leo Mpulula, Tigers’ Coach, blamed officiation on the goal but said the future remains bright since they have only played six games.

Dynamos Coach, Andrew Bunya, attributed consistency in containing their opponents and crucial substitutions as key to the outcome.

Baka City remain league anchors with 2 points, MAFCO and Bangwe sit 13th and 14th with three points, while Chitipa are 13th with 4 points.

Civo are 10th, Creck are on 11 and FOMO on 12 and they all share 7 points.
