President Dr Lazarus Chakwera is on his way to Mangochi where he is expected to fulfill a number of official duties in the Eastern Region.
The Malawi leader is expected to make stopovers along the way to greet Malawians who have lined the streets to see him.
Jubilant crowds have gathered at the Mangochi turn-off to catch a glimpse of the President.
Among them are party and government officials, including Deputy Presidential Advisor on Religious Affairs Sheikh Hashim Abbas and Regional Governor for the Eastern Region, Foster Mtandama.
The President is expected to address the gathering at the Mangochi turnoff, where he will likely give an update on his administration’s initiatives and projects in the region.
