Police Officers drilled on new Land Laws, LIMS

Police officers from Nsanje and Chikwawa Districts are undergoing training on the new land laws and the Land Information Management System (LIMS) in Blantyre.

Director of Administration in the Ministry of Lands, Victor Sandikonda, stressed that the police play a crucial role in resolving disputes related to the acquisition and transfer of land, among other issues.

Sandikonda noted that it was essential not to overlook the police, as they collaborate closely with chiefs and communities.

Commissioner of Police for the South Eastern Region, Chikondi Chingadza, stated that the training would equip police officers with the necessary information to reference when handling land issues.

Chingaza acknowledged that in the past, officers had to rely on their own initiative and knowledge in the absence of formal land management information.

The sensitisation meeting was organised by the Ministry of Lands with assistance from the Shire Valley Transformation Project.
