Northern police chief pledges more officers in Rumphi

Commissioner of Police for the North, Richard Luhanga has promised to deploy more officers to the newly opened Livingstonia Police Unit in Rumphi to curb crime and attract more investors and tourists around Livingstonia.

Luhanga made the remarks during the official opening of Livingstonia Police Unit on Friday which has been built by Rumphi District Council, with funding from Governance to Enable Service Delivery (GESD) worth K42 million.

He added that more police presence in the area would also help in the fight against illegal immigrants. Luhanga also warned against vandalism of government property whenever there are disagreements between the Police and the community.

District Commissioner for Rumphi, Emmanuel Bulukutu said security is particularly important to Livingstonia because it is one of the areas earmarked for hotel development under President Chakwera’s Agriculture, Tourism, Mining(ATM) strategy.
