Maranatha Private Academy has honoured Jacqueline Salatiel one of its stellar students with K1 million for her exceptional performance in the 2023 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination.
Salatiel, who scored nine points was presented with a prize of K1 million by Ernest Kaonga, the academy’s managing director. The presentation occurred during Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) annual Top Girl Child Awards ceremony held in Zomba.
In a statement following the award, Kaonga expressed that the gesture was intended to serve as an incentive for other Maranatha Students to strive for excellence.
“Our aim is to encourage young women to be motivated and to exert additional effort for the betterment of our institution and the country as a whole,” Kaonga said.
Additionally, as President of the Private Schools Association of Malawi (PRISAM), Kaonga lauded Zodiak’s initiative for the awards, highlighting it as a significant motivator for female students.
“At PRISAM, we are committed to promoting diligent academic pursuit among girls. We applaud Zodiak Broadcasting Station’s efforts in recognising and honouring outstanding female students from both public and private schools,” added Kaonga.
Salatiel was one of 11 girls honoured for their outstanding performance, having scored between six to nine points during the 2023 MSCE examination. Each awardee received K200,000 from ZBS.
Maranatha Private Academy is renowned for its tradition of acknowledging academic excellence by awarding top performers in the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE), Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) and MSCE examinations.
