The Malawi National Beach Soccer team will have to wait until March 7, 2024 to learn their opponents for the forthcoming 2023 COSAFA Beach Soccer Championships.
On that day, the tournament organisers will conduct a draw for the teams, which will for the first time include a non-African nation, Saudi Arabia.
Additionally, Morocco and Tanzania will participate as guests.
Hosts South Africa will be seeded in Group A, while Morocco will hold seed status in Group B since they are the highest-ranking team.
Teams are divided into pots: Mozambique and Malawi in Pot 1, Saudi Arabia and Tanzania in Pot 2, Angola and Seychelles in Pot 3.
Each pot will be drawn sequentially, with the first team drawn placed in Group A and the second team in Group B.
The pool stage matches are scheduled for March 17, 18, and 20, followed by the semifinals on March 22. The final and bronze medal match will take place a day later.
The Malawi Beach Soccer coach Willy Kumilambe recently called up a 25-member provisional squad that convened on Wednesday in Salima.
