Knowledge gap catalyst for chaotic elections-MEC

Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson, Justice Chifundo Kachale, says it is important to invest in knowledge about the forthcoming tripartite elections.

He was speaking in Lilongwe during the opening of a day-long Lilongwe City Liaison Committee meeting

involving political parties, civil society organisations as well as security agencies.

On his part, Chief Executive Officer for Lilongwe City Council, Mcloud Kadam’manja, hailed MEC for what he called timely moves that could help ensure better elections.

“This meeting is very important as it will equip all the stakeholders here for fair elections, come September 2025,” said Kadam’manja.

MEC is emphasising on raising awareness about fifty plus one system for presidential elections, registration necessities as well as roles of political parties before, during and after the elections.
