Gwengwe asks for preferential treatment from India

Minister of Trade and Industry Sosten Gwengwe has asked the Indian government to improve the preferential tariff scheme for Malawi to export more products to the country.

Gwengwe said this during the India-Africa Business Conclave currently underway in New Delhi, India.

He said Malawi exports a lot to India such as mangoes, and macadamia nuts but the country faces challenges such as high tariff charges hence the need to soften them.

The minister has further called on investors from the country to invest in the ATM Strategy.

Malawi also exports pigeon peas, soybeans, chilies, groundnuts, and pulses to India.
