United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has commended the Malawi Government for swiftly responding to Cyclone Freddy.
Guterres was speaking after meeting President Dr Lazarus Chakwera at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
He said the UN will continue to work with the Malawi Government to improve the living standards of the people.
In her remarks, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, said Dr Chakwera, also commended the UN for numerous development interventions being undertaken in Malawi.
President Chakwera is in New York for the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
