Government says collaboration remains key in the attainment of the Malawi 2063 agenda that aspires to achieve an inclusive, prosperous, and self-reliant nation.
Deputy Minister of Local Government, Culture and National Unity Owen Chomanika was speaking in Chitipa during the official handover of the 18 year Chitipa Local Rights program implemented by Action Aid Malawi aimed at empowering women and girls to claim their rights.
Action Aid Board Chairperson Professor Dorothy Nampota said the project has among others managed to build a strong foundation of self-reliance, equity, and social justice through transformation of harmful patriarchal social norms.
The project which started in 2017 has been using a Child Sponsorship approach, and has transformed lives of many and fostered resilience and autonomy in the community.
During the ceremony Action Aid handed over a vehicle and motor cycles to the council to ease mobility and desks to schools to improve the learning environment.
