Minister of Trade, Sosten Gwengwe, says the government will soon unveil a K7 billion World Bank grant aimed at supporting value addition for medium-sized enterprises.
Gwengwe made the remarks in Lilongwe during the celebration of the 110th edition of National Product Magazine.
The magazine honoured outstanding companies and individuals from Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Mozambique for m, among others, their excellence in manufacturing and exporting various products within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) regional market.
Its Managing Director, Arthur Chinyamula, emphasised that the awards promote competition and motivate local manufacturers.
In the media category, Malawi Broadcasting Corporation’s Principal Editor, McDonald Chiwayula and Zodiak Broadcasting Station’s Sub-Editor, Alex Banda, were recognised for their expertise in reporting business and environmental stories.
Other awardees included Salima Sugar Company Limited, Yellow Solar and Trade Kings, among others.
