High Court has adjourned the case of Norman Chisale to 19 February for plea taking.
The court has since charged Chisale with two more counts to answer relating to money laundering.
Furthermore, the State is seeking to forfeit Chisale’s assets worth over K5 billion.
When the case resumed for plea taking, the State told the court that it has amended the charge sheet by adding money laundering charges to the case.
Chisale’s lawyer, Gilbert Khonyongwa, asked the court to grant them seven days to go through the amended charge sheet and file objections before plea taking which has been granted.
Meanwhile, the Director of Criminal Litigation, Dzikondianthu Malunda, stressed that the changes in the sheet or the adjournment will not affect progress of the case.
Chisale is an aide of former president, Peter Mutharika.
