Chisale has case to answer for suspected false JCE

Chief Resident Magistrate Court in Lilongwe has ruled that Norman Chisale has a case to answer in a matter where he is suspected of impersonation, presenting false information to a public officer and intimidation.

In the matter, Chisale is suspected to have presented a Junior Certificate of Education bearing the name Pithius Hiwa to be enlisted in the Malawi Defence Force.

Delivering his ruling , Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza said facts indicate that Chisale and Hiwa were students at Nsipe Community Day Secondary School and Chisale did not pass JCE examinations while Hiwa did and Hiwa reported to have had his certificate stolen.

In addition, Chimwaza said the court established that Chisale was employed by the MAlawi Army with a JCE certificate bearing the name Pithious Hiwa and retired at MDF as Pithious Hiwa Chisale.

She added that evidence obtained from the first witness Pithius Hiwa showed that Chisale was intimidating him until he fled the country for Zambia.

Chisale is suspected to have committed the crimes in 1996

She has since adjourned the case 14 March, 2025.
