Chawinga sisters in Scorchers’ strong COSAFA squad

Malawi National Women’s Football Team coach, Lovemore Fazili, has included Lyon forward Tabitha Chawinga and her sister Temwa in his 38-member provisional squad ahead of the COSAFA Women’s Championship, set to take place in South Africa from October 22 to November 2.

Fazili has named a strong squad, featuring 10 foreign-based players who will be available for selection, as part of the tournament falls under the FIFA Window.

The other foreign-based players include defenders Chimwemwe Madise (TP Mazembe, DRC) and Ireen Khumalo (Green Buffaloes, Zambia), midfielder Rose Kabzere (Montpellier, France), and strikers Mary Chavinda (Rayon, Rwanda), Vitumbiko Mkandawire (Zisd, Zambia), Sabina Thom (TP Mazembe, DRC), and Chioma Okafor (University of Connecticut, USA).

Malawi, the defending champions, are placed in Group B alongside Botswana, Madagascar and Mauritius.
