President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has arrived in Cairo ahead of the Intra Africa Trade Fair organised by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union and AfCFTA Secretariat.
President Chakwera arrived in Cairo at noon. He was welcomed by Minister of Trade, Sosten Gwengwe, Malawi’s Ambassador to Egypt, Catherine Kunje and embassy staff, and Dr Ashraf Sabhy, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports.
Speaking earlier, Gwengwe said the trade fair is a good platform for Malawi to strike deals with would-be investors. Gwengwe said the government is keen to see Malawi’s export base grow and said it is for this reason President Chakwera is spearheading all strategies that will support the country’s economic growth.
The second Intra Africa Trade Fair brings together continental and global players to showcase and exhibit their goods and services and explore business and investment opportunities in Africa.
