The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) says the voter registration process for the upcoming general elections will begin in September.
MEC Commissioner Francis Kasaira said this in Blantyre during a meeting with key electoral stakeholders where they discussed new electoral laws, reforms, and the demarcation of constituencies and wards with political party representatives, electoral civil society groups, and the police.
As part of the reforms, the general elections will now be held in September instead of May. Polling will commence at 6 am and conclude at 4 pm.
