The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has temporarily suspended preparations for the Mwansa Ward By-election in Mangochi due to reported irregularities in the registration exercise.
MEC Chairperson, Justice Chifundo Kachale, told the electoral stakeholders in Mangochi that the commission received written complaints from UTM and DPP that some parties were registering minors and outsiders.
Kachale has since communicated that a new date for the by-election will be announced soon.
