The much-anticipated Blantyre 42.195 km race is set to take place on 7 September 2024, as announced by the Director of Planning, Marketing, and Infrastructure at the Malawi National Council of Sports during a press briefing held at the council’s head office.
This year’s event, themed ‘PACE – UP’, will feature three categories: the full 42.195 km marathon, a 10 km race, and a 5 km race.
The director also revealed that the route for this year’s race has been slightly altered to enhance the spectator experience, providing more opportunities for supporters to watch their athletes in action.
Proceeds from the race will be donated to a government health centre’s maternity ward in celebration of Mother’s Day.
