AEJ conference wraps up with new leadership

At the conclusion of the 2024 Annual Congress for Association of Environmental Journalists (AEJ) in Lilongwe,  Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu, praised the association’s national impact and urged journalists to “walk the talk” in their communities.

Highlights of the final day included a dinner, a panel discussion on the media’s role in accelerating Malawi’s cooking energy agenda, the launch of the Deforestation Dossier, a parade, and the awarding of trophies to outstanding environmental journalists.

The congress, themed: “Be Part of the Plan,” saw Kunkuyu ending his speech with a Churchill quote: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts,” as he congratulated the new executive committee elected on this final day.

Yoneco Radio journalist, Titus Linzie,  has been elected president, taking over the mantle from Mathews Malata, with Rose Chalira Chipumphula as vice-president. The positions of treasurer, vice-treasurer,  secretary general and executive committee members were also filled with new members.
