ACFTA notes potential in Malawi’s exports

The African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) says Malawi has the potential to boost exports through the ACFTA.

According to ACFTA Head of Division Market Access Directorate of Trade in Goods and Competition Joyce Letwalo Malawi’s business community has potential to greatly tap into the economic integration of the continent as it exports more.

“We want to prove that the economic integration of the continent is tangible and not just abstract,” said Letwalo.

In a bid to sensitize the private sector about the initiative and how to take advantage of the continental market, the ACFTA officials have since embarked on orientation sessions with local business operators at the Chichiri Trade Fair Grounds, where the 34th Malawi International Trade Fair is taking place.
