Minister of Natural Resources Patricia Wiskes has encouraged young scholars to build perseverance and resilience to realise their dreams.
She said this on Friday during the inaugural lecture by the first female Professor Judith Mangani Kamoto from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR)
Wiskes commended Kamoto at the institution, saying she has proven that women can attain such accolades with determination and perseverance.
She said there is no shortcut in the academic journey, therefore, girls need to emulate her.
The lecturer has been conferred the professorial title and first female out of 30 professors at LUANAR.
Commenting on the lecture, the new professor delivered a speech titled ” The paradoxes of governing the commons: Explaining the gap between the natural resources governance and benefits for human wellbeing in Malawi”.
The minister said such research helps provide a clear roadmap and solutions to solve challenges in the management of forests and natural resources.
