Govt lauds Blantyre Adventist Hospital on cardiac treatment

Blantyre Adventist Hospital has been commended for facilitating Open Heart Surgeries to about 70 patients through Hearts 4 Mission International (H4MI) organisation.

Deputy Minister of Health, Noah Chimpeni, made the commendation during a Cardiac and Open Heart Surgery briefing at the hospital.

Chief Executive Officer for Blantyre Adventist Hospital, Kirby Kasinja, asked the government to provide them with drug importing license for easy access of medicines.

Kasinja said this is because it takes longer to order them via some pharmaceuticals.

Chimpeni said government has noted the request and will consider how best to assist the hospital.

He added that a healthy
nation is crucial for the attainment of the country’s development blue print, the Malawi 2063.

Among others, the government refers patients with heart problems to the private hospital as such treatment is not available in most public hospitals.
